Each drawing is generated by a single body of text. An individual word in the text is represented by one line in the drawing. The line's length and direction changes as a word is parsed letter by letter. Every line in the drawing is slightly transparent allowing darker lines to appear when a certain word or sequence of letters occurs more than once. Upon completion, the title of the text used to generate the drawing is displayed.

Each body of text has a unique character defined by the order and frequency of its letters. By presenting the text as a highly structured drawing, the character of the text is given precedence over legibility. Knowing the rules dictating the creation of the drawing allows one to read the drawing. One can read word and letter frequency. The words in the text structure a drawing patter that is unique within the rules of the drawing system.
